Public Walking Tours

Public walking tours for individuals and families

We offer free walking tours of the campus almost every day of the year, rain or shine. Our expert guides are student ambassadors who know the university and student life. Applying to Berkeley? History buff? Nostalgic alum? A campus tour is perfect for you.

These walking tours are for individuals, families, and parties of up to nine people. If you are a school group or organization, a party of 10 people or more, or you’re interested in a private tour, please go to the Group/Private Tour Page for more information.

Tours are offered seven days a week and leave at 10:00 am from the Koret Visitor Center at 2227 Piedmont Avenue, in the historic California Memorial Stadium.

On football game days (Saturday Oct. 21 and Saturday Nov. 4) 10:00 am campus tours will depart from the Campanile (Sather Tower) located in the middle of campus.

Tours require an online reservation. The online calendar includes all available walking tours. Tours are offered on the following university holidays:

  • Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
  • Presidents’ Day
  • Cesar Chavez Day (last Friday in March)
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Veteran’s Day
  • Friday after Thanksgiving

The online calendar includes several kinds of tours. Please see their descriptions and review the name of the tour before reserving to ensure you are reserving the correct tour. Tours for newly admitted students are only for those (and their families) who have received a notice of acceptance to Berkeley or have been given the option to be on the waitlist.
